frequently asked questions

What are the retreat hours?

Friday 5:30 PM – Sunday 4:00 PM. We ask everyone to stay for the full 3 days to honor the flow of the group.

Will we be indoors or outdoors?

Most of the retreat takes place outdoors. If it rains, we have some covered spaces, but the experience will still be primarily outside. Please bring layers, a sweatshirt, a hat, and rain gear suitable for October.

Is there cell service or internet?

There is no cell service or Wi-Fi at the retreat location. This is intentional—time away from devices is part of the experience. Please make arrangements with family, work, or others ahead of time. An emergency phone number will be provided to loved ones.

What about lodging?

Participants arrange lodging or camping nearby. Options include Air BnB, local campgrounds and small accommodations in the Glide area—please book early. We can also help connect you with others who are lodging locally for bunking and rooming together.

How many participants will there be?

The retreat requires a minimum of 11 participants and has a maximum of 23.

Do I need horse experience?

No. All equine sessions are guided and safe, focusing on connection and presence. Boots are recommended.

Will we be riding horses?

No. we are exploring different aspects of the horse-human relationship.

What will seating be like?

Circle time includes stumps, cushions, and some chairs. If you have a favorite camp chair, meditation cushion, or “flapjack,” feel free to bring it. We will not be seated all day—activities include movement, horse time, nature walks, and creative sessions.

What's the food like?

Meals are mostly plant-based, with vegetarian options such as eggs and cheese. We do our best to accommodate dietary needs—please let us know in advance.

Can we help with carpooling?

Yes. If you’d like to share a ride, let us know where you’ll be coming from or staying, and we can help connect participants.

What should I pack?

October layers (warm sweatshirt, rain jacket, hat, sturdy shoes or boots), a reusable water bottle, and your favorite mug for hot tea.

Is the terrain accessible?

The land is mostly flat and walkable, though it is natural ground (grass, soil, creekside paths). We have limited accommodations for mobility devices but are open to discussing individual needs.

What if I become overwhelmed or need time alone?

The retreat is designed around coregulation and nervous system balance, which helps minimize overwhelm. If you need a break, quiet space will be available, and facilitators will support you in moving at your own pace.
